Spin the disco ball: when it stops, the light pointer will indicate the category that you and your opponents will play. See below for a description of each category.
COMPLETE A ‘LINE’ WHILE LISTENING TO THE GREATEST HITS OF ALL TIME
The best music and all the fun of bingo come together in this new edition of HITSTER. Enjoy some of the greatest hits of all time as you fill out your scorecard. First to call out ‘LINE!’ is the HITSTER Bingo winner!
Set up:
- Decide if you’re playing in teams or individually.
- Choose the difficulty level of the game. Side A of the game board is for Beginners, side B is for Experts. Place the disco ball in the centre of the board.
- Shuffle the square music cards and place a stack of random cards date-side down on each of the five categories on the game board.
- Share out the scorecards and marker pens.
- Open the HITSTER app on your mobile phone.
- Choose a player to be the DJ. If you set your HITSTER app to Spotify Premium, the DJ can play along!
How to play
1. On your turn
2. The DJ plays a song
The DJ picks up the top music card from the category that has been spun (without peeking at the underside) and scans the QR code using the HITSTER app. As soon as the song starts playing, press the disco ball to activate the coloured timer lights (25 seconds).
3. Write down your answer
All players: write down your answer in the white box on your scorecard before the red light flashes on the disco ball to indicate that time is up.
4. Flip the music card
When time’s up, the DJ turns over the music card to reveal the answer. All players: check your answers. If you got it right, score 1 point: put a cross in a box of the corresponding category colour on your scorecard.
Winning the game
Keep taking turns clockwise, spinning the disco ball and playing as before. The first player or team to complete a line on their scorecard is the HITSTER Bingo winner!
Categories
A-side: Beginners
B-side: Experts
Note: The date on each card corresponds to the year in which the song was released, or the year in which the original artist first performed the song in public.
Tips:
- A winning line can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Each scorecard has a different colour/category arrangement. Decide on the best strategy to get a line based on your musical strengths.
- You can assemble the teams randomly, by age, by musical tastes or however you think will be most fun. But remember, the more varied your team, the better your chances of victory!
- In the event of a tie, the game will continue between the tied players. The first one to take the lead wins. That is the first player to have the next answer correct.
- Remember: you can also play HITSTER BINGO with cards from other HITSTER game versions. Cards are marked with a symbol to identify the corresponding game version, so if they get mixed up when playing, each card can always be returned to its box.
